Tailored Learning

Tailored Learning supports young people who have disengaged from school or who have poor attendance at school and may be experiencing:

• anxiety and depression

• unstable accommodation

• family complexities

• pregnancy, parenting or young carers

Suitability for Tailored Learning support

Suitability for inclusion in Tailored Learning depends on the level of support a student needs.

Students may be eligible for Tailored Learning if they experience chronic non-attendance at school with complex personal barriers to learning.

Tailored Learning support at Northern Adelaide Senior College (NASC)

Tailored Learning supports young people through a wrap around support approach to address their personal barriers.

NASC partners with National Community Services Organization Mission Australia who provide student centred Case Management support on site, integrating their various support options for students including: community outreach and transportation, Duke of Edinburgh Award, emergency relief and counselling support.

In addition to Case Management support, structured self-regulation intervention will also be provided to Tailored Learning students.

Based on individual need and circumstances students will develop their self-regulation capacity across three domains: Sensory, Social and Emotional Literacy, and Cognitive (Executive Functioning).

The cultivation of self-regulation skills enables students to not only increase their capacity and amount of time that they are ‘ready to learn’, but also their learning stamina.
