NASC students participate in the BEACON Program
15 June 2022

Northern Adelaide Senior College (NASC) students are taking significant strides toward a confident transition from education to the workforce, thanks to their active participation in the BEACON Program.

Guided by 35 years of practice wisdom, BEACON focuses on empowering students in identifying and navigating post-education opportunities aligned with their strengths and interests.

The program is structured into three vital phases: Awareness, Exploration, and Experience.

In the ‘Awareness’ phase, students gain self-awareness, understanding their capabilities and interests.

The ‘Exploration’ phase tailors career exploration to individual profiles, involving site tours that challenge and strengthen career assumptions.

Finally, the ‘Experience’ phase offers students self-coordinated work opportunities, ensuring a well-aligned placement based on their previous phases’ insights.

Designed to enhance skills and create meaningful connections with the working world, BEACON equips young adults with confidence for their future pathways.

“BEACON is a pivotal step toward bridging the gap between education and employment. It instils confidence in our students, preparing them for a seamless transition into the workforce,” says Ben Harker, a teacher helping in the initiative.

BEACON not only enriches students’ practical skills but also nurtures their self-assurance, ensuring they step into the professional realm well-prepared and empowered.

Northern Adelaide Senior College are accepting 2022/23 year 11-13 enrolments throughout the year.
